What We Do

ACS provides residential and non-residential services to children, youth, and families. Our emergency shelter and long-term residential programs provide support for kids in the state’s care. We also provide foster, adoption, and kinship care services to families in Central Texas. And our community-based programs offer a range of supports and services aimed at strengthening families and keeping children safe in their own homes.

Care Academy

Care Academy is our new full-time child care facility open to the public with an innovative program designed to support both parents and children to ensure family success and school readiness. Our unique approach recognizes the critical importance of the first five years of a child’s life and the challenges that all parents face during those years. Learn more at

Child Abuse Prevention with Strong Start

In 2013, Strong Start, a child abuse prevention program, merged with ACS. Strong Start is designed to provide parents with the skills and resources needed to safely raise their children. Families with children between the ages of 0-5, who have factors that make them more vulnerable to abuse and neglect.Through a combination of services, including a therapeutic early childhood program, in-home parent coaching, parenting classes, support groups, mental health, and basic needs assistance, Strong Start teaches parents effective, non-violent parenting techniques while enhancing child social emotional development and decreasing challenging child behaviors. May 09, 2015 I had the pleasure of going to this event with my daughter April, her husband Darren, Johnny their 2 year old and his baby sister Dottie now 8 months.
