Direct Service Volunteers

Austin Children's Services is in dire need of Care Academy Volunteers!

Direct Service Volunteers work directly with the kids either in our cottages, our Care Academy, or our therapeutic classroom at our Strong Start facility.  It's a great way to get engaged and build a rapport with the youth in our care.  Direct Service volunteers are required to attend an Info Session, complete the volunteer application, complete a Volunteer Orientation, and go through a background check before they may begin working with the youth.  All Direct Service Volunteers must be at least 21 years old.

Due to a recent DFPS policy change, all Direct Service Volunteers are now required to submit an FBI background check before volunteering.  While ACS will cover the $41.95 fee, we appreciate any donations to help off-set this cost.

How To Become a Direct Service Volunteer

All Direct Service Volunteer applicants must complete three steps.

Step 1: Attend an Info Session.

Step 2: Complete and submit a Volunteer Application (available at the Info Session).

Step 3: Attend the Volunteer Orientation.

Volunteer Info Sessions

We are ALWAYS seeking fresh faces who want to help out! Our Info Sessions are held the second Tuesday of each month from 6:00-7:00 pm at Austin Children's Services. To ensure we have enough materials for all our new recruits, please RSVP if you plan to attend an Info Session. We can't wait to meet you!

Info Session location at ACS:

4800 Manor Rd. Bldg. A
Austin TX 78723
